First introduced in 1982 as Nike’s first basketball shoe to feature Nike Air cushioning, the Air Force 1 has moved far beyond the hardwood to become one of the most enduring silhouettes in sneaker and street culture.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low LX Icon looks back at an important chapter in Nike Harajuku history and Tokyo’s longstanding relationship with the AF1. Conceived as a realmadHECTIC tribute, the colourway references an Air Force 1 originally associated with Nike 1LOVE Tokyo, the Harajuku concept space created around the silhouette’s 25th anniversary.
Rather than reproduce the original red colourway, this Green Apple Air Force 1 flips the palette across the colour wheel, covering the shoe in vivid Green Apple and Chlorophyll tones. The result is an Air Force 1 Icon that feels familiar while reframing a cult piece of Japanese sneaker history for a new generation.
The upper is constructed in Nike AF1 glossy leather, with Green Ostrich-textured leather bringing texture to the Swoosh and heel tab. Aged gold-tone metal eyelets and the signature AF1 lace dubrae add contrast, while the laser-etched “1ICON” branding at the heel completes the reference to the original '1LOVE' era.
Inside, a green X-ray graphic of the Air Force 1 appears on the insole, complete with loose laces. A playful extension of the “Icon” concept, the hidden detail looks beneath the surface of one of Nike’s most recognisable silhouettes—celebrating the AF1 not just through its colour and materials, but through the form of the shoe itself.
This limited edition release continues the AF1 tradition of using a familiar silhouette as a canvas for culture, place and reinterpretation.
