The latest premium label to hit the shelves at VegNonVeg is Momotaro Denim. Straight out of Kojima, Japan, each piece of Momotaro quietly screams heritage and craftsmanship.
Momotaro has grown from a niche Japanese workshop into a global benchmark for quality denim. Yet the brand has never compromised its origins. Each pair still begins in Kojima. Each step is still done by hand.
Named after the peach-born hero Momotarō, the brand embodies the same values of courage, precision, and integrity that define the folk tale. Every garment is a modern armour of sorts. Japanese storytelling is woven directly into the fabric.

What sets Momotaro apart is the material it uses. Before the denim even reaches a loom, the brand sources hand-picked Zimbabwe cotton, known for its long, strong fibres. This gives the denim a uniquely smooth yet sturdy feel. The denim is soft enough to age beautifully, but strong enough to last a lifetime. Once the yarn is spun, it is dipped in Okayama’s deep-blue indigo, which may require 20 or more dips. The resulting colour is iconic, rich and pure.

Momotaro’s denim is woven on vintage Toyoda G3 shuttle looms, giving each fabric a depth and character modern machines can’t replicate. This slow, intentional process carries through to construction—chain-stitched hems, custom hardware, hand-sewn details, and leather patches that age beautifully. Nothing is outsourced. Nothing is rushed. Their signature “Going to Battle” stripes, inspired by samurai armour, honour the brand’s devotion to craft and the artisans behind every pair.

Momotaro isn’t just denim, it’s a philosophy of work. Momotaro is a testament to doing things the right way. Each piece of denim is a reminder that true quality doesn’t just last, it evolves. And over time, each fade on the denim tells a personal story.
