The Air Jordan 12 Retro “Idols Become Rivals” brings the story of Ray Allen’s 2004 Milwaukee Bucks Air Jordan 12 Player Exclusive to a wider audience for the first time.
A shoe that spent more than 20 years as a Player Exclusive is finally getting a wider release. This Summit White and Gorge Green Air Jordan 12 takes its cues from the PE made for Ray Allen during his Milwaukee Bucks era — back when some of the best Jordans were reserved for NBA players and almost impossible to get. Allen grew up idolising Michael Jordan before eventually facing him on court, giving the release its “Idols Become Rivals” nickname.
Premium white leather covers the upper, contrasted by a textured Gorge Green mudguard and flashes of Fierce Purple. The Air Jordan 12 itself dates back to 1996, when Michael Jordan wore Tinker Hatfield’s original design — the first model in his signature line to feature Air Zoom cushioning. Its distinctive radiating stitch lines were inspired by a sunrise.
More than two decades later, a once-unobtainable Ray Allen PE finally makes it to retail.
